発表ゼロの日の4〜6%下落、動かしたのは米10年債 No announcements, a 4-6% drop — the ten-year did it
アプライド・デジタルが火曜に4%、サイファー・デジタルが6%下げました。IRENとコア・サイエンティフィックも一緒に売られています。アプライド・デジタルの直近の発表は7月、サイファーは8月初旬、IRENは一週間前です。その日に出たものは何もありません。会社の側では何も起きていません。
動いたのは米10年債です。世界的な債券売りが重なって4.8%まで上がりました。昨年1月以来の高さです。
この結びつきは、四社が実際に何をしている会社なのかを見て初めて筋が通ります。いずれもビットコインのマイニングから出てきた会社です。今は大手クラウドやAI研究所と数年単位の賃貸契約を結び、それを履行するために土地と変電所と冷却設備とGPUを自分で建てています。アプライド・デジタルは6月、ある拠点の建屋一棟のために15億9千万ドルの担保付社債を発行しました。賃料は今後十年かけて入ってきます。お金は今出ていきます。
つまりこの株価は、割引率に銘柄名を付けたようなものです。長期金利が動けば次の借入のコストが動き、2033年に入る現金の現在価値も一緒に動きます。AIの物語はそこに一票も投じていません。
いま掲示板を埋めているのがこの銘柄群で、書き込みはメガワットとテナントとGPUの台数の話です。債券の話はほとんど出てきません。
米国では、会社がいくらをどんな条件で借りたかは、たいてい読み飛ばされるプレスリリースとして出てきます。日本では個人はそれをどこで確かめていますか。Applied Digital fell 4% on Tuesday and Cipher Digital fell 6%. IREN and Core Scientific went down with them. Applied Digital had announced nothing since July, Cipher nothing since early August, IREN nothing since a week ago. Nothing came out that day. Nothing happened at these companies.
What moved was the ten-year Treasury, which reached 4.8% in a global bond selloff, the highest since January of last year.
The link only makes sense once you look at what these companies actually are. All four came out of bitcoin mining. They now sign multi-year leases with hyperscalers and AI labs, and to deliver on those leases they have to build: land, substations, cooling, GPUs. Applied Digital priced $1.59 billion of senior secured notes in June to fund one building at one campus. The rent arrives over the next decade. The money goes out now.
So the share price is really a discount rate with a ticker attached. When the long end moves, the cost of the next tranche of debt moves, and so does the present value of cash that lands in 2033. The AI story never got a vote in it.
These names fill the boards right now, and the posts are about megawatts, tenants and GPU counts. Almost none of them are about bonds.
