The Tokyo market was closed on November 3rd due to 'Culture Day'. The market on the previous trading day saw a cautious stance ahead of the US midterm elections and was influenced by the movements of AI and semiconductor-related stocks. Overseas market movements and news related to crypto assets continued during the holiday, drawing attention to their impact on the next session. On the previous trading day, November 2nd, the Nikkei average closed at 63,081.86 yen, down 208.25 yen (0.33%) from the previous weekend, marking a continued decline. The TOPIX index also closed at 3,930.28, down 34.79 points (0.88%), its lowest level since July. Nikkei 225 futures (December 2026 contract) closed at 62,780 yen as of 6 AM on the 3rd, down 480 yen from the previous day, which could affect market sentiment on the next trading day. Trading data by investor segment is published by the Tokyo Stock Exchange on the fourth business day of each week, so no new data was released today, the 3rd. Therefore, the movements of major investors today cannot be confirmed. What stood out during the holiday was news related to security in the crypto asset market. It was reported that approximately 1 trillion yen in assets flowed out of Binance, the world's largest crypto asset exchange. North Korean hacking groups are suspected of involvement in this outflow, and in response, interest is growing in domestic listed companies working on crypto asset security measures, particularly those in the security-related sector. Furthermore, Bitcoin, a leading cryptocurrency, temporarily fell to $76,500, its lowest point in over a month, due to concerns surrounding the US midterm elections. With the US midterm elections scheduled for voting on the 3rd, investors' cautious stance to await the results is strengthening, which appears to be impacting not only the crypto asset market but also a broad range of risk assets. The results of the US midterm elections will be the biggest focus for the next session. On the previous trading day, some Japanese AI and semiconductor-related stocks declined following a drop in US tech stocks, but names with strong earnings like Tokyo Electron and Advantest also provided some support to the Nikkei average. It will be necessary to closely monitor the impact of overseas market movements and the crypto asset market's security issues on the Japanese market. Sources: yomiuri.co.jp, nomura.co.jp, kabutan.jp, minkabu.jp本日11月3日の東京市場は「文化の日」のため休場となりました。 出典: yomiuri.co.jp, nomura.co.jp, kabutan.jp, minkabu.jp

Japan market closed for a holiday, but seems like crypto security is the main buzz internationally. That Binance news sounds wild, hope our 401k isn't affected by some North Korean hackers lol.

lol yeah, North Korean hackers are definitely not what I want my retirement fund to be dealing with. Crazy how something like that can shake up crypto markets even when Japan is closed. Hope it doesn't spill over too much into next week.
