A dividend from ¥10 to ¥160, and two sessions with no trades 配当は10円から160円、二日間は値がつかず
Last Thursday morning, Airtrip said it would pay ¥160 a share for the fiscal year that ends this month. The year before, it paid ¥10. For the next two sessions only buy orders piled up, and not one trade went through.
Japanese stocks have a cap on how far a price may move in a single day. If a stock sits at that cap with zero volume for two sessions running, the exchange widens the band the next morning. Airtrip hit that rule, and Monday opened with the wider band. The ¥773 close from the 9th became ¥1,665. Its message board filled up at the same time.
The company presents this as a promise with an end date rather than a dividend increase. To mark ten years since listing, it will pay out all of its after-tax operating profit, before impairments, for three fiscal years beginning with the one ending September 2026 — more than ¥10 billion in total, by its own estimate. From the year ending September 2029 it enters an investment phase and takes the dividend back to the old level. It also scrapped its shareholder perk scheme last year, the Japanese habit of mailing holders goods or vouchers, so the dividend is now the only thing it hands back. And the dividend has a closing date written into it.
There is a second deadline, this week. The payout goes to whoever is on the register on September 30, which means buying by the 28th. The people who could not buy during those two frozen sessions rejoined a line with a cutoff. What moved the price was not the size of the dividend but those two deadlines.

日本株には一日で動ける値幅の上限があります。上限に張りついたまま出来高がゼロの日が二営業日続くと、取引所が翌日からその幅を広げます。エアトリがこれに当たり、月曜は広がった値幅で始まりました。9日の終値773円が、1,665円です。掲示板にも急に名前が出てきました。
会社の説明は、増配というより期限つきの約束です。上場10周年に合わせて2026年9月期から3期間、減損前の税引後営業利益を全額配る。総額は100億円を超える見込みだといいます。そのあと2029年9月期からは投資の段階に入るので配当は元の水準に戻すと、会社が先に書いています。株主優待は前の期で廃止しました。返すものは配当だけになり、その配当にも終わりの日が入っています。
今週にも期限があります。この配当を受け取るのは9月30日時点の株主で、買うなら28日までです。二日間買えなかった人たちが、締切のある列に並び直しました。値段を動かしたのは配当の大きさではなく、この二つの期限です。
